This policy provides guidance for the handling of HWI Gear gloves that have been exposed, or are suspected to have been exposed, to blood, bodily fluids, pathogens, biological material, hazardous substances, chemicals, or other potentially harmful contaminants.
Contaminated Gloves
HWI Gear gloves are designed to provide protection appropriate to the specific performance characteristics identified for each glove model. HWI Gear does not manufacture or represent its gloves as providing protection against pathogens, infectious materials, biological hazards, or other contamination unless specifically stated in the product documentation.
If an HWI Gear glove becomes contaminated or is suspected of contamination, HWI Gear recommends that the glove not be cleaned, washed, disinfected, decontaminated, or reused.

Cleaning Is Not Decontamination
Routine cleaning of a glove should not be considered a method of decontamination. HWI Gear cannot verify that washing, laundering, disinfecting, sanitizing, or applying chemical cleaning agents will adequately remove or neutralize pathogens or other hazardous contaminants.
Additionally, exposure to disinfectants, bleach, solvents, high temperatures, or other decontamination processes may affect glove materials and protective performance.
Important Safety Notice
When the nature of the contaminant is unknown, potentially infectious, or hazardous, users should follow their employer's established exposure-control and disposal procedures and consult the appropriate safety professional.
When in doubt, remove the gloves from service and dispose of them appropriately. Do not attempt to decontaminate and reuse them.
